MAKEGOVWORK.ORG - FOR POLITICAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CHANGE IN EASTERN WASHINGTON AND BEYOND
This site is a reaction and call to arms for regular, hard working Americans to stand up to the corruption, greed and lack of leadership that has taken over our country. This is about making change and taking back our country from the forces of corporate greed, political extremists, and those that would enrich themselves at our expense.
The battle between the two major parties has stopped them from realizing their duty to work hard for regular Americans. Instead, they fight for power, and to remain in power, regardless of the consequences. It's time for some viable Independent candidates, new ideas and real choices.
This is a site for Independents. This is a site for leaderless Democrats. This is a site for disenchanted Republicans. Demand accountability. Make government work for you. And pass this web site on to anyone that might care or want to participate.

This Friday we will cover -
SPECIAL GUEST HOST MOLLY CALLEN, ON EDUCATION AND BUDGETS - As you know every couple of months I like to have a guest host on the show. Usually this is a regular listener with their own idea's on how the world works. We may or may not agree on everything, but different viewpoints are the key to better understanding of the complex problems of the world. Molly Callen is this weeks co-host, bringing an excellent understanding of education and current education problems. Feel free to read her comments on the idea of "Children's investment funds" levy. I know there will be some hot debates on this issue.
MY BEEF - GOVERNMENT BUDGETS DON'T ADDRESS WAGE INEQUALITY - The big problem I have with the city and state budgets is that they look at tax hikes instead of wage/benefit reductions. Well, here is how the tax hikes are going to affect you. It really chafes me that the state leadership seems to think the only two choices are to cut important programs like social services and education, or raise our regressive Washington taxes like sales and property. How about wage and benefit freezes and cuts for higher paid workers and administration?
MY OTHER BEEF - EDUCATION SYSTEM BROKEN, SO START FIXING PROBLEMS - As we talked about earlier, I am not in favor of anymore levy or tax increases for education or any other government programs till we start looking at the root issues that have created this mess. We essentially spend more than we have on bloated salaries and benefits, and cannot afford to raise taxes on the working class anymore. In fact, even with the tax increases, we still have to get rid of teachers because unions will not fix their wage/benefit issues. So here is an article about the losses of the youngest and cheapest teachers, so we can keep the overpaid ones around. Sorry if I sound like a hater, but I just have to get to the heart of the issues.
THE MYTH OF HIGHER EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE AND PROFESSIONALISM - Finally, I'd like to comment on the current state of "them vs us", with "them" being anyone that is feeding of the government systems of education, health care and other government jobs, and the "us" being anyone not in those fields. With the insane cost of Education, and Health care driving our nation close to bankruptcy, it is time to have some fact finding on what is a fair and just wage for any particular government job. And on the other side, we need a progressive tax structure that allows us to tax those that fall into higher tax brackets more than those that struggle through the low wage, average jobs that are available to most. Without being honest about the state of need for workers because of efficiency and productivity gains, we will never be able to bring back balance to the process of being a functional part of society.
MAKEGOVWORK FACEBOOK GROUP - I've had a Facebook group for a while, but have not pushed it much. Facebook is a great way to communicate to others, so I wanted to make sure everyone joined up if they want to keep up, and help work to improve things. I made a Facebook group, feel free to join and spread the word -

2ND ANNIVERSARY THIS WEEK, WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED? - Two years on the radio!! Thanks to KYRS, it's member, listeners and volunteers for the chance to host the show and discuss the issues that affect out lives. The idea of the show and the web site is to discuss, and make government on all levels work better. Obviously we are not in better shape than 2 years ago, so what went wrong?
WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS WE FACE? - From Feb 200 to now, what re the problems we face in America? Obviously the economy is #1. And as you all know, all other problems come from economic issues. Whether social, political or economics, every issue comes from lack of resources to solve problems. And our current unique problems are from 2 directions - government overspending, and misguided tax structure. But the real problem is that politicians work to get reelected as opposed to solving problems.
ARE THINGS GETTING BETTER OR WORSE? OR CAN THEY GET BETTER? - I'd like to ask if things are getting better, but really we all know the answer to that question. So the real question is "can things get better"? And why will the get better? What will be the forces that get things going the right directions? Or what are the forces that will push us farther down the hole?
TED2010: Ten fascinating people you've never heard of - Finally, I'm happy to spotlight 10 people that we should all know about, but have never had a chance to see. This list of 10 thinkers and innovators are the kind of people that we should all aspire to be. Check out this great article, and the video on the top of this weeks blog. This is the optimistic and hopeful part of this weeks blog.
MAKEGOVWORK FACEBOOK GROUP - I've had a Facebook group for a while, but have not pushed it much. JOHN STEWART ON O'REILLY, PRETTY GOOD DEBATE, CHECK OUT VIDEO - After the Obama/GOP event last week, we had another great political media truth telling moment. John Stewart went on The Bill O'Reilly show and they had a great back and forth. It was interesting (like the Obama/GOP) event in its honesty and lack of misinformation. It was full of honest disagreement. So again this week, I highly recommend that you watch it to really learn something. I promise you will enjoy it. I posted the link on the top of this weeks blog.
WASHINGTON STATE BUDGET ISSUE, WAGES AND BENEFITS - Here is an interesting article about the wages and benefits in the Washington State budget. Because of politics, these costs are the greatest, and the hardest to cut. But how do you fix a budget when the least politically correct cuts are the most important. So instead, we have government workers leaving the rest of us behind financially, while we will face tax increases on our most regressive tax structure in the country.
WASHINGTON STATE TAX INCREASE COMING, DO YOU SUPPORT? - And following this wage imbalance, we have the oncoming tax increase. The state legislature voted to circumvent the voter approved restriction on tax increases without a super majority. I am highly disappointed with our state leaders. Instead of controlling spending, or looking at an income tax, they are going to make life hard on those of us that can least afford it. So please contact you state leaders and tell them that tax increases on the working poor, while giving wage and benefit increases to overpaid government workers is not right.
WILL SOCIAL SECURITY GO BANKRUPT? - Not like you don't have enough problems on your plate, but here is the next scary possibility coming up in our life time. It is very likely that Social Security will go bankrupt under the weight of the Baby boomer retirements. How can this be you way? Simply, because we are paying more out than we take in. And more people are getting bigger benefits than we can afford. But as usual we cannot fix it because we will annoy/offend some voting constituent. How do you solve problems when you are afraid of offending any possible voter. YOU DON'T!! Ha ha ha...
HOW CHINA'S BOND BUYERS COULD MAKE LIFE REALLY HARD ON THE US - Finally, we have the scary story of the week. Yes, the previous story was plenty scary, but this could be even MORE SCARY!! How about the Chinese selling our treasury bonds, or at least cutting back on what they buy? This affects us because as the US racks up Mountains of debt, we have to count on the Chinese (and others) to purchase that debt. So if they were to sell, or cut back, we would either not be able to borrow more, or would have to pay more in interest on our borrowing, costing us even more in interest. Or maybe this will just turn into World War Three. Wars have started for dumber reasons.
MAKEGOVWORK FACEBOOK GROUP - I've had a Facebook group for a while, but have not pushed it much. Facebook is a great way to communicate to others, so I wanted to make sure everyone joined up if they want to keep up, and help work to improve things. This Friday we will cover -
OBAMA VS THE GOP, AMERICA IS THE WINNER - I've been itching to talk about the Obama vs GOP event friday. I thought it was the greatest political event of the last decade. It was frank, honest and unscripted. I can only hope that this forced honesty happens more often. It felt like what you would think a political debate would be, not like a campaign of lies and dishonest promises. Here is a review of the event. You can also see some of the video's on this CNN link. I hope for more of this "talking to parliament" type moments.
OBAMA'S BUDGET, WARTS AND ALL - But all is not well in the good old USA. Obama's latest budget has a $1.27 trillion dollar deficit. This is part political reality, but a bigger part DEMOCRATIC OVERSPENDING. Really, have the Democrats really tried to get tough with government spending, wages and benefits? We currently have the record for US federal employees with over 2 million. Not that the Republicans were any better with their big government plans, but someone really needs to say no. Until voters and citizens have control over the right to increase taxes, there will NEVER be any control over government spending, wages and benefits. If government employees had to do a good job to get raises, our system would be very different.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH - And from that Civil Rights movement, we have Black History Month. Here is a quick guide to information and history on Black History Month. Did you realize that it is also celebrated in Britain and Canada? And are you one of those people that thinks there should be a White History Month? That is what the rest of the year is!!! SO while I'm not really always politically correct, I do think that information and education are great equalizers.
EDUCATION SALARIES, EDUCATION COSTS SOAR, AMAZING COINCIDENCE? - So finally we have the "not a surprise" award for mutual stories. First we have the soaring salaries in education. No surprises there. Next we have the soaring costs of education! Is this some amazing coincidence? I think not. Someone must figure out how this could happen. How is it possible that pay and costs both could SOAR?? Amazing...

This Friday we will cover -
OBAMA'S STATE OF THE UNION SPEECH, WHAT DO YOU THINK? - So I just spent the last hour or so watching Obama's State of the Union Speech. Here is a play by play discussion of the speech. I really liked it. But I doubt that Congress and the two major parties will listen. I do think that Obama has learned some great lessons in this last year. AND I do think that he will do a better job in supporting the working, and middle class of America. I just don't think Congress will go along with the plan. As far as the Republicans Virginia Governors response, I do agree with this - "Government that governs close to home, governs best".
OBAMA'S YEAR IN REVIEW - So lets do a review of Obama's first year. What did you think? Are you happy? Unhappy? Do you think he fulfilled his campaign promises? Do you think congress did their best for America? I found an interesting take from France on his efforts. Maybe there is something to be learned by seeing an outside view of American politics.
OBAMA, FISCAL CONSERVATIVE? - I love some of Obama's fiscally responsible statements of the last couple of weeks. I don't think the rank and file Democrats liked it. Sadly, we really cannot continue down this path of huge debt, regardless of who created this debt. Any actions from government should move towards a cheaper, efficient balanced budget, regardless of city, county, state or federal government.
PAY-GO, BALANCED BUDGETS BY GARY CROOKS AT THE SPOKESMAN - Finally, I saw a great article on the value of bi-partisan agreement on "pay-go" for the federal government. Crooks rightly states that the last time we had a balanced budget, both parties agreed to balance spending increases with tax increases. Check out Crooks "smart bombs" column.

EMERGENCY UPDATE - OBAMA'S GLASS STEIGAL, TERRIBLE SUPREMES - Two BIG events happened thursday that you should know about.
THE LATEST ON HAITI - THE GOOD, BAD AND THE UGLY - It gave me a little joy in our otherwise troubled world to see Bush and Clinton together trying to get support for the disaster for Haiti. And don't be confused, the suffering in Haiti is beyond anything since Katrina and 9/11. This is an nation changing disaster. So do what you can to help, and be happy for the family, friends, home and life you have. And work to make Spokane and the world a better place. Here is an interesting link for the daily happenings and events in Haiti.
SCOTT BROWN'S WIN IN MASSACHUSETTS, WHAT DOES IT MEAN? - The two good things that come from Scott Brown winning in Mass is 1) the Republicans are back in the game, and responsible for government along with the Dems. So now they cannot blame the Dems for everything. and 2) The parties will have to work together in some way to govern. They should focus on the basic of health care reform with stopping denial for pre-existing conditions, increased competition, and cost control. Otherwise we all (R's, D's and the rest of us) will collapse under the cost of our broke health care system. Here is an excellent discussion of the costs of health care from a couple of different view points.
IF YOU STAY IN THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM, WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO? - So my friends out there that are staunch supporters of either of the two parties, I assume you have good reasons to stay with them. But please, hold your party accountable for it's misdeeds, and don't always assume the worse from the other party. Neither they, nor you have a monopoly on good or bad deeds. But if you choose to ignore your parties bad efforts, we will all go down with the sinking ship. It's your responsibility to get involved, and fix problems.
THE PROBLEMS WITH THE FEDERAL DEBT AND THE DEMOCRATS - The Democrats don't seem to make any effort to control government spending, and I'm afraid that it will be their downfall. They MUST fix the debt and deficit. I know they want to be all things to all people, but it's not possible. AND both D's and R's have to learn to be fiscally responsible, working towards a balanced budget year to year. If the two major parties don't pull their heads out of their collective butts, we are finished as a nation. Hello Spanish and Roman empire, Here we come...

THE REAL TRUTH. WHAT SHOULD WE DO? - I hate to be a negative Nellie, but some truths need to be said. That being the case, here is a truth we must all face.
Republicans say Democrats are ruining America. That is true.
Democrats say Republicans are ruining America. That is also true.
The two party system is destroying America. Here is the reasoning. Both major parties are addicted to power. They don't actually want to fix anything. They just want to be in charge. Both parties are sold out to big business interests, that themselves have sold us out to globalism and multi-nationalism. How has globalism worked out for the American worker? How has globalism affected wages and real wages in America? What do you do when both the Republicans and Democrats care more about their party power than the health of the USA. As an example, health care reform should be about controlling the runaway costs of health care. But neither the R's or D's want to fix that. They just bicker over who's contributors get to rape America.
Come August and November, you are going to have chances to fix this problem. It will require money, energy and time from you. Will you be willing to save your own life and the life of America, or will you continue to be cattle lead to slaughter?
PS - FINGER POINTING AND BLAME MOST NEEDED! - I'm tired of this fake politeness we portray. When someone in some official capacity screws up, POINT THE FINGER AND BLAME THEM!! We have got to stop being polite to the detriment of a functioning government. Ugh...
MORE RECORD BANK BONUSES WHILE TAXPAYER CRASHES AND BURNS - So it's bonus season for Wall Street. They might distribute up to $90 billion in bonuses (beyond regular pay). They say they have paid off tarp, but they have not paid off the AIG pay through of $200 billion that you and I the tax-payer gave them. You need to strongly suggest to your congress person that this is unacceptable, but your congress-person either doesn't either know this, or really care. Do you care?
ROLLING STONE'S MATT TAIBBI'S LATEST ARTICLE ON WALL STREET - Obama's Big Sellout: The president has packed his economic team with Wall Street insiders intent on turning the bailout into an all-out giveaway. Here is Matt Taibbi's article about Obama stacking the deck for Wall Street. Fixing Wall Street could have been one of the greatest (and most populist) efforts in AMerican history. But Obama has turned his back on main street and the middle class, to support Wall Street and the financial elite of America.
WASHINGTON STATE BUDGET PROBLEMS, TAX INCREASES, NOT PAY CUTS? - Finally, we have Washington state political leaders saying that they cannot cut pay for over payed state employees. So the only other choice they have is to increase taxes and pray for federal help. At the same time, the cuts made hurt the working poor. So how the hell does this help the working and middle class? Is it right and fair to prop up public employee salaries when regular working people are losing jobs and taking pay cuts.

LESS JOBS IN THE USA THAT A DECADE AGO BECAUSE OF EFFICIENCY - I saw a report about the loss of jobs in the US this last decade. We went from 109 million jobs in jan 2000 to 108 million jobs in jan 2010. This goes against an increase in population of 280 million people in 2000 vs 310 million now. The big reason we are facing this is actually a good thing. Business and society have made great gains in efficiency and productivity and we really don't need people as much as we did in the past. So the only obvious solution is to make the standard work week smaller, creating more jobs. A 30/32 hour work week would create a need for people. Government could start this with business following. What do you think?
Congressional Reform Act of 2010 - Please check out this article about the "Congressional Reform Act of 2010". This seems to be framed as a conservative idea, but I don't see it. I suppose if you think the democrats and liberals are for unfair standards you could say that. But it doesn't fit for me. And regardless, why does congress get such preferential deals over regular citizens. Drop me a note and tell me what you think
FINALLY, HOW IMPORTANT IS QUALITY OF LIFE - The US ranks 7th in quality of life. And France ranks #1. What does quality of life mean to you? How important is it to be healthy and happy? I'd say being healthy and happy is the ultimate goal in life. What about you?
MAKEGOVWORK FACEBOOK GROUP - I've had a facebook group for a while, but have not pushed it much. So broadly, we have suffered through one of the worse decades in the history of the USA. Of course there are those that have prospered in these times. But the average American has seen their wealth and wages decline in real dollars. It does seem that those that are connected to government and corporate America have seen higher increases than most. Finally, it seems that these declines are brought on by a few issues. Greed, laziness, and an abdication of duty by your average citizen is mainly the cause of our difficulties. Government would not be able to do all the terrible jobs it does without our support and ignorance. How can one blame government and corporate America, when we continue to support the very systems that weaken our lives. We only have ourselves to blame.

IT'S THE CHRISTMAS SEASON! - Yes this Friday is Christmas day. So to celebrate the occasion we have a special guest. It's Santa Claus (check out wikipedia for Santa info). So this weeks show will be an all Santa and Chrismas episode. Feel free to listen to what Santa has to say, some great Christmas music, and please call and ask Santa a question. Good times for sure.
PHYSICS OF SANTA - So when it comes to Santa, many people ask "how do you do it all"? We are going to look at the science of Santa, and how he covers so much ground in so little time. From Santa Seeing you, to Flying Reindeer, we will look at the amazing and scientific word of Santa.
RELIGION, CHRISTMAS AND ALL THAT, WHAT DOES SANTA THINK? - And being one of those serious news shows, I want to take some time to ask Santa what he thinks of the issues of the day. War, consumerism, religion, that guy Jesus, the state of humanity and all that are on the table. WWSD? What would Santa do?
HELP CHARITIES LIKE OUTPLACE AND OTHERS - I am going to set up an area at Merlyn's (19 w main) collecting food, cloths, and other donated items that we will give to Ourplace. Please come by Merlyn's and drop off anything you can help with, or check out the OurPlace web site for more information.

A CATCH UP WEEK BEFORE THE FESTIVE CHRISTMAS EPISODE! - Last week we were lucky enough to have Zaq from "Tin foil hat times" (Saturdays 4pm on kyrs.org) talking about "the five pillars of humanity" - humility, self control, integrity, generosity and honor. This week we will catch up on whatever strikes me this week. And next week we will do the special Christmas day" episode with Christmas music and all sorts of christmassy info.
WHAT IS THE "RIGHT AMOUNT" FOR A JOB, AND SHOULD EVERYONE PITCH IN IN HARD TIMES? - Here are two articles about about government wages in the state, and at the federal level. We need to have some hard discussions about the nature of government wages. While much of America is suffering with job loss and wage reductions, local, state and federal wages grow by leaps and bounds. How about some honest dialog as to what a person should make for government work?
PS - And all the while, How about TAX INCREASES for you and me. I'll tell you what. I'll vote against any politician who promotes regressive tax increases without addressing wage imbalance.
"Non-Partisan League of Spokane" - We are working on an ongoing effort to expand elections access and campaign reform. I do like the idea of the web site/political incubator, and will continue to head in that route with the people that are interested. BUT I do have to say that much like my original goal of the makegovwork.org website and radio show I am more interested in activism towards a few important ideas. We have discussed most of them, and most of us are on the same page. Elections reform, elections finance reform, public financed campaigns, increased transparency, term limits, and more accessible elections, maybe balanced budgets and debt reduction on the national level, and progressive tax structure as opposed to regressive tax structure. Are you interested in most of these? I am thinking about heading into two courses of actions -
1) Changing our meetings to the activist concept regarding the items I list above. I want to work towards bringing change to the elections and government process.
2) Continued work by everyone interested in the non-partisan web site, with info for candidates, voters, activists to empower them to participate in the elections process.

This Friday we will cover -
GUEST HOST - ZAQ FLANARY FROM "TIN FOIL HAT TIMES" DISCUSSING EVERYTHING! - We should have a great time this week with special guest host, Zaq Flanary from Tin foil hat times. Normally Zaq is discussing all things conspiracy Saturdays at 4pm-6pm. But this week Zaq and I are going to discuss a moral/ethics concept and how it relates to government and politics.
5 "PILLARS OF HUMANITY", AND IT'S RELATION TO GOVERNMENT - We are going to discuss the 5 "pillars of humanity", humility, self control, integrity, generosity and honor. I am not inclined to discuss the moral lapses of Americans. But there is something wrong with the nature of our country. To me these "5 pillars" have been lost. Furthermore, our LEADERS seem to be the ones with the greatest failings in these regards.
HOW WE GOT IN THE MESS WE ARE IN = WE ARE WEAK - How did things get so screwed up? Weakness on the part of average, everyday citizens. But this has been going on for years, decades, centuries or longer. We have a moral and civic duty to keep and eye on politicians, and more importantly, keep OUR guys honest. Too much is made of beating up on the enemy and condoning our guys bad behavior. It's high time to change this, and hold everyone (theirs and ours) to a higher standard.
WHERE WE IN AMERICA (AND THE WORLD) ARE HEADING? - What does the future hold for us in America, and the world? We are up to our ears in debt, politicians cannot say no to spending your tax dollars, they compete for your favors to get re-elected and so much more. How can we change course when both parties in our silly two party duopoly play the same "appease corporations" game.
"BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD" - GANDHI - What can you and I do to change this screwed up world. First thing is read these two links -
Ok, so as Gandhi said, you have to live the way you want to world to be. And as the two links show, you have to identify the good and bad in your life and clean up your act. You cannot help others till you help yourself. Myself, I have always see greed and indulgence as two main trouble makers. Finally, while it's a bit black and white, here is the "West point Cadet code of Honor" - "A cadet will not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do." - Something to think about...
"Non-Partisan League of Spokane" MEETING, DEC 15TH, Tuesday, 7pm, Merlyn's, 19 W Main - Thanks to all that attended our third meeting. I've been thinking about the last meeting and the discussion about activism vs education. I do like the idea of the web site/political incubator, and will continue to head in that route with the people that are interested. BUT I do have to say that much like my original goal of the makegovwork.org website and radio show I am more interested in activism towards a few important ideas. This Friday we will cover -
US CREDO? - Obama said this in the speech tonight. I thought it was the lost ideal of the US government.
GOVERNMENT
OF THE PEOPLE
BY THE PEOPLE
FOR THE PEOPLE
OBAMA'S AFGHANISTAN SPEECH AND DECISION - I guess I cannot let tonight go by without commenting on Obama's Afghanistan plans. It was a nice speech. In fact, it was lovely. BUT it was not a speech that reached to the core of the problems in Afghanistan. One does not conquer Afghanistan. One does not pacify Afghanistan. Tribal factions rule Afhganistan, not Democratic rules. So it is a falacy that we can "win" in Afghanistan. But lets hope that I'm wrong. We will see in a year or two.
10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF WTO IN SEATTLE - 10 years ago we had the WTO riots in Seattle Washington. I was actually in London during the events, where there were WTO riots there as well. After history has had a decade to look at what the riots were about, and the nature of Global capitalism, what do we know? Do you think the "world trade organization" has been a help or burden to the world. And how has globalization, NAFTA, CAFTA and all worked out for the American worker?
2000-2009, THE DECADE FROM HELL? - Time had a great article about "The decade from hell". How bad was the 00's? Was it really as bad as other times in American history. Financially, unless you were one of the rich, you didn't get anything out of the decade.

This Friday we will cover -
THANKSGIVING SPECIAL - I want to discuss all things Thanksgiving. ANd I want to hear what you have to say about thanksgiving and giving thanks.
WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR - I'm thankful for my mother and Father, good friends that care about me, my good fortune, good health and energy. And of course my friends and listeners at KYRS community radio. I hope that everyone out there can find peace and happiness in these holidays. I want to enjoy, and share my good fortune with others. I want to be empathetic towards those suffering and in need. I want to lift others to happiness and greatness.
COLUMBUS, DISCOVERER OR INVADER? - So as society progresses, we come to greater understanding about the nature of man and history. When I went to school, kids were taught that Columbus discovered the "new world". When in fact we know that this new world was filled with native peoples. So the constant re-writing of history is in effect with a more modern view, and a confusion as to "did Columbus do a good thing, or a bad thing?" Here is a good interview about 1492 and Columbus by Noam Chomsky.
FOOD ON THANKSGIVING VS HUNGER IN THE WORLD - Tomorrow, I and much of America will celebrate Thanksgiving by eating huge amounts of food, and watching football. It does create a difficulty for me knowing that millions in America (and thousands in Spokane) are going hungry. What can you do? Lean about hunger in America, make sure politicians know what your priorities area, and support food banks like Second harvest.
HELP CHARITIES LIKE OUTPLACE AND OTHERS - So knowing the hunger and suffering out there, are you willing to help those that are less fortunate? Food, clothing, money and other resources are in dire need this holidays. And we are seeing hard times hit closer to home every day. There are many great charities out there, but the one we support most is Ourplace. This charity based in west central Spokane helps thousands a month with food, cloths and other resources. Assuming you have the were with all to help others, and regardless of what charities you decide to help, please think about helping someone. I am going to set up an area at Merlyn's (19 w main) collecting food, cloths, and other donated items that we will give to Ourplace. Please come by Merlyn's and drop off anything you can help with, or check out the OurPlace web site for more information.
"Non-Partisan League of Spokane" MEETING, DEC 15TH, Tuesday, 7pm, Merlyn's, 19 W Main - We had our latest "Non-Partisan League of Spokane" (the new name) this last Tuesday. It's a good time to take in lots of diverse ideas and have a great political discussion. One of our main goals is the creation of a clearing house of political ideas, resources, tools, and other things that new, independent, or third party candidates could use to run for office.
Our next meeting will be Dec 15th, Tuesday at Merlyn's for an update on the web page possibilities, and a move towards a more Activist role in politics. Join us.
