This Friday we will cover -

LOCAL ELECTIONS UPDATE, NOT COVERED ON SHOW - It was a less exciting week with me being sick sunday through wednesday, but still productive. I have had great success with the facebook VOTEJOHNWAITE group, so please continue to spread the word. I had many great conversations with people this week about issues and have learned LOTS of new things about Spokane. I also went to an interview at the Spokesman Review, with high hopes it helps spread the message. I also had a great ad for the next 4 weeks in the Inlander. These ads are REALLY expensive, so if anyone can help with the cost, please send a check, or use the paypal button on my web page. Finally, I am going to get out again and hit the neighborhoods with my doorhangers. If anyone wants to cover their local couple of blocks, drop me a note and I'll get you the doorhangers.

Check out the easy to join facebook VOTEJOHNWAITE group.

Thanks again for all your support. Smile

CAN WE FIX SPOKANE BUDGET WITHOUT LOOKING AT SALARYS? - The Spokesman review had a very informative article about the salary structure of Spokane city employees compared to those of the average worker in Spokane. I highly encourage you to read it and decide for yourself if things are set up properly with our wage structure, especially with Police and fire. This is an odd place for me to be because I believe in the work that unions do when it pertains to employee rights and safety. I just have a hard time with what I see as over the top wage structure compared to the $35,000 average wage of Spokane workers. This imbalance will ultimately force us to cut services like street maintance, and the number of police working the streets. This doesn't help the citizens OR the city workers. It only drives us to an ultimate end of bankruptcy. Please find a copy of the Sunday Spokesman and read it for yourself.

CHINA RECOVERS FASTER THAN US BECAUSE IT SPENDS STIMULUS NOW? - You can never say exactly what is the "truth". The comeback of the Chinese economy is one of those odd truths. The Chinese economy is growing faster than the US economy and some say it's because of the better use of their stimulus. But area they just creating a new bubble in housing and value based on inflation. And are we spending enough, or should we just throw buckets of money at the wall and see what sticks. I'm not for the way the stimulus is being spent, but I'd rather be careful and not waste it right away. And has any of the stimulus affected you?

GOLDMAN SACKS MAKES RECORD PROFITS. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? - This should be the outrage of the week, but of course it's off most peoples radar. Goldman Sacks made RECORD profits this quarter. This after almost going out of business less than a year ago. Of course it was you and I who bailed them out. Isn't there something wrong with a system that has these highs and lows. Especially frustrating is Goldman going back to the old HIGH LEVERAGE ways that lead us to ruin last September. This could of course lead us back to the same bailout problems of the past.

COMMUNITY RADIO AND CATHOLICS FOR LOW POWER RADIO - Finally, Listener Jason pointed out this great article about the Catholic church and it's call out to people to call and support low power radio. They are calling for people to call July 20th and tell their federal representatives to support low power radio. It gives me great joy to see diverse groups join on pushing important issues like low power, community radio.

GOOD OBAMA/BAD OBAMA - Here is this weeks scorecard,

GOOD OBAMA = Talking up and Supporting Community Colleges

BAD OBAMA = Continued unwinnable war in Afghanistan
