TAXES: Warren Buffett - Rich Taxed Too Little, Poor Too Much
This week we will cover -
LOCAL ELECTIONS UPDATE - Two weeks from today we will get the results of the local city council elections races. Aug 19th I'll wake up, read the paper, and it will be like Christmas in Summer. I just hope I get a present, and not a lump of coal.
This week I met with the Warren Magnuson Democrats and had a great time. The were receptive and understood my odd blend of independent, fiscal conservative, socially progressive politics. Hopefully I can get some word of mouth from all these meetings. Regardless, there are still things you can do to help.
1) Spread the word. This primary will be close for 2nd place, and I need all the help I can get to get people to vote for me on their primary ballots. And call or e-mail anyone in the 3rd that you might think would like what I have to offer.
2) Put doorhangers out in your neighborhood. We have covered a large part of central 3rd district, but have areas with no coverage. It seems well worth it, but takes time and manpower. Call or e-mail me and we can figure it out.
3) I have almost covered my primary budget, but am still working on donations for the last $100. If you can afford to help, please contact me, send a check, or use the paypal donation button on the www.votejohnwaite.com web site.
4) I'd like to get out some of the morning and afterneoon driving times and do some sign waving. If you have time, drop me a note and we will figure out a good time and place.
NO RADIO SHOW FOR A WHILE - Because of FCC rules, the board of KYRS has chose to have me off the air till the election are over. While I am not thrilled about it, I understand their concerns. I do think there are other ways to solve this. So for the next few weeks, I will try to get replacement hosts, or find worthy alternatives. This week I ran a show called "law and disorder". Very cool stuff. You should find it on the internet and check it out. On the shows status, I'll keep you posted. - John W
CASH FOR CLUNKERS IS ANOTHER DUMB BAILOUT - Here is yet another government bailout that should not interfere with the free market. The car companies were already making a comeback based on earlier bailouts. And now with the cash for clunkers, we have car companies making profits on the backs of us taxpayes. And this has hurt used car dealers and the market for low price cars that poorer people could afford. This is an example of unintended consequences.
