Income Inequality Is At An All-Time High: STUDY

This week we will cover -

LOCAL ELECTIONS UPDATE - TWO DAYS from today we will get the results of the local city council elections races. Aug 19th I'll wake up, read the paper, and it will be like Christmas in Summer. I just hope I get a present, and not a lump of coal. Smile

And win or lose, I'll be on Wednesday noon on Community Conversations. You can hear it streamed on kyrs.org, or on 92.3fm in Spokane. I hope I'm not sad.

This week I did a bunch of sign waving. It has been going great. And I went to the Garland Street fair saturday and met a bunch of nice people. So we are down to crunch time. But there are still things you can do to help.

1) Spread the word. This primary will be close for 2nd place, and I need all the help I can get to get people to vote for me on their primary ballots. And call or e-mail anyone in the 3rd district that you might think would like what I have to offer.

2) Join me in sign waving monday 4:30-6pm on the NW corner of Monroe/Indiana/NW blvd. I'll have extra signs, so come on by.

3) Check out the easy to join facebook VOTEJOHNWAITE group. Spread the word to your friends!

Thanks again for all your support. Smile

NO RADIO SHOW FOR A WHILE - Because of FCC rules, the board of KYRS has chose to have me off the air till the election are over. While I am not thrilled about it, I understand their concerns. I do think there are other ways to solve this. So for the next few weeks, I will try to get replacement hosts, or find worthy alternatives. This week I ran a show called "law and disorder". Very cool stuff. You should find it on the internet and check it out. I'll keep you posted on the shows status, . - John W

WHY HEALTH CARE DOESN'T RESPOND TO REGULAR MARKET FORCES - There has been much discussion about Health Care reform lately. I am all for reform on the insurance side at least. The "single payer plan" takes the insurance side of Health care into the public sector, and takes out the profit motice from that side. The medical side of the problem is another whole issue. And to those that are spreading lies and fear, they should be ashamed of themselves defending a corrupt greedy medical system.

GOD AWFUL LOCAL POLITICAL COVERAGE BY MSM - I have to comment on WHAT A HORRIBLE JOB the MSM/local media has done on the primary elections. I got ZERO calls of interest from the TV and radio stations in Spokane (except for KYRS). It is one of their core jobs to provide information to local voters. If they are not going to do that job perhaps their use of our public airwaves should be rethought. Here is an article about the concentration of power in media. The public needs to start fighting back and force the media to do it's core job.

CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY ARE TOO SMART TO DISMISS - Here is an article about the NW power council and it's efforts to save 85% on energy costs through conservation. I wanted to comment on sustainability as well. Sustainability has been demonized by the right is some mis-guided effort to prop up big business. EVERYONE including business should realize the value of an "advisory" sustainability program that can find savings and efficiency for city government. And as an added bonus for conservatives, sustainability efforts are a must to reduce our external energy needs. Who doesn't see the need for reduced dependence on foreign oil and energy.
