THIS WEEK DEDICATED TO ANGELA PARKER - We lost a friend and supporter this week. Angela Parker was one of those kind and thoughtful people I inspired to be like. She passed away last week. Dave, we will be there for you if you need anything. Angela, you will always be with us as we fight the good fight.

Coeur d’Alene shares pain, balances budget - Here is a great story of a community that realizes they are all in it together. CDA balanced their 2009 budget by canceling pay raises for admin and union workers. They didn't raise taxes on their already burdened community. It's great to see a community that gets it. I wish that our local workers and administration would wake up to reality and fix problems, instead of being greeding in troubled times.

DUMB HEALTH CARE DEBATE, HERE ARE THE FACTS - I'm really tired of the fearmongers that got us into the Iraq War bringing out their "fear agenda" to battle healthcare reform. Here are the facts -

1) We spend Twice as much per capita for health care than the rest of the industrialized word.

2) We have the 37th best health care results, longevity, infant mortality, etc...

3) The healthcare industry is THREE TIME more profitable than the average S&P business average.

4) Healthcare costs/medical issues are the leading cause of Bankruptcy in America.

5) Healthcare costs were 6% of GDP decaded ago. They are now 16%, and climbing to 20% in the next decade. This will bankrupt America.

Our system is broken, and disgustingly greedy. You can debate what form you want health care, or how it should be ran, but stop with the lies and fear mongering. If you think we can have a "profit driven" healthcare model, you don't understand US capitalist or corporate ideology. Corporations are bound to serve shareholders and drive profits to the detriment of all else. We should have fixed this 10 or 20 years ago. Don't let the Right make it worse.

I CANNOT DO A SEPT 11TH EPISODE WITHOUT COMMENTING ON 9/11 - It would be wrong to do a Sept 11th show without commenting on 9/11. Everyone remembers that day. And most importantly, how America and the world joined together to mourn. But the event was used by the evil neo-cons to drive us into an un-needed war. The biggest lesson to learn from this event is that secrets and lies are the most dangerous thing American government faces. Do not let them lie to you. And punish politicians when they lie, cheat or steal. If you let them go about unpunished, we will never fix our country.

"OTHER" PARTY MEETING, Sept 15th, Tuesday, 6pm, Merlyn's, 19 W MAIN - We have the time and date for the first meeting for the "other" party meeting. This is starting with the goal of understanding the problems that out current elective system faces, and what can be done about it. Our initial goals are as follows -

1) More inclusive elections process. 2) Can the little guy force change in the corporate controlled government system. 3) Can third partys and independents organize to create an organized opposition group to the top two partys? 4) Can the mechanisms, structures and timings of the elective process be changed to bring more accessability?

So the goal in the next week or so is to figure out a day and time once a month to meet at Merlyn's and discuss how different political groups in the minority can work together to further broad access to the elective process. The goal is to have an inclusive, positive group with the sigular goal of expanding access to the government process. Drop me a note if your interested. DUMB REPUBLICAN = Joe Wilson from SC yelling "you lie" to the Prez would be easy, but California Republican Mike Duvall bragging about his affair with a lobbyist is the winner this week!!

DUMB DEMOCRAT = MAX BAUCUS, head of healthcare reform having a former healthcare exec write the bill. I'm sure that will reform healthcare
