MP3 copy of this weeks (Oct 16th) show

Paul Krugman - Income Inequality and the Middle Class

Join the www.makegovwork.org radio show Friday Oct 16th at 9am. You will be able to hear it at 89.9 or 92.3 FM, or STREAMED on the internet at http://www.live365.com/stations/kyrs?site=pro. This show is meant to be a forum for you and the local community, so feel free to participate and tell us what you think.

You can e-mail me at gorbob@gmail.com about the show or with comments, and I will get to anything I have time for.

Or you can call the show at 747-3807 and speak your mind. Please call. Smile

This Friday we will cover -

SPOKANE CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE FORUM, OCT 17TH, NOON, AUNTIES -Ballots are dropping soon for the General election. It's time to brush up on what, and who are going to be presented. KYRS is going to have a candidate forum this saturday, Oct 17th at Noon at Aunties bookstore. What should we talk about? What are the important issues to you the taxpayers? Please call up, or e-mail your questions to me at gorbob@gmail.com.

SPOKANE ISSUES - What are some of the issues that Spokane faces? And what are some of the issues you think are most important? Are you worried about how much is being spent on city wages and benefits? Are you worried about the mayor having to cut 22 police to balance the budget? Are there other options?

WASHINGTON STATE ISSUES - State issues and decisions may effect you as much as anything that we face. Are you pro or con I-1033? Did you know that Washington ranks as one of the least taxed states, UNLESS YOUR POOR? Did you know that 75% of sales tax revenue goes to the state? Did you know that compensation boards compare Spokane to cities its size, BUT NOT cities of a same economic makeup?

AND OF COURSE FEDERAL ISSUES - Health care costs are not something that you and I can vote on, but they are issues that DRAMATICALLY effect how local government spends and provides services. Did you see the Health care industry shoot itself in the foot today? It's likely they pushed the vote "FOR" health care reform today with their crap. And did you know that the medical malpractice industry is more profitable than 99% of the fortune 500!

"OTHER" PARTY MEETING, Oct 20th, Tuesday, 7pm, Merlyn's, 19 W MAIN -

We will have the next meeting of the "other party" Tuesday, Oct 20th, 7pm at Merlyn's, 19 w main. This time we will spend about an hour figuring out how to get to the next step of creating a web site, and spreading the word. If there are any "Webby" people out there, we would love to have you join us. I'm interested in Blogspot and those sort of sites. And we will spend an hour just discussing any other ideas on how to fix the elections process.

Also, we would love to hear from any "card carrying" third party representatives to discuss their needs and ideas on election reform. Green's, Constitutionalist's, Libritarians and all that are all invited.

I made a facebook group, feel free to join and spread the word -

Facebook "makegovwork" group.

Our next meeting is October 20th, 7pm at Merlyn's (19 W Main).

THIS WEEKS "OTHER" PARTY NOT! - I went to google and typed in "washington state political parties". The top result from the state is linked here. This must change.

THE NEW "DUMB REPUBLICAN/DUMB DEMOCRAT" - Here is this weeks scorecard,

SMART REPUBLICAN = I changed it up this week for Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine.. She is one of the few Republicans who has ever broke ranks on any issue. On health care, she voted for the health care reform under the guise of continuing the debate and discussion. Not words heard ofter from the Right. Good on her.

DUMB DEMOCRAT = Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut opposes public option and the current health care reform because it tries to do too much. But I cannot remember, is Lieberman a D or R or I this week?

Permanent links of note -
WASHINGTON FREE PRESS, INDEPENDENT NEWS JOURNAL
PROJECT CENSORED, STORIES THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA AVOIDS
WASHINGTON CLEAN ELECTIONS, PUBLIC FINANCED ELECTIONS
WASHINGTON COALITION FOR OPEN GOVERNMENT, TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT
SPOKANE LOCALS = SPOKANESKEPTIC, SPOVANGELIST, SR FORUMS
